Borrisokane Staff and students welcomed all students interested in enrolling in the school for September 2017 on Tuesday 15th November with their parents or guardians for an Open evening. From 7.30 pm they were able to view all the teaching and learning initiatives being currently used in the school in order to achieve effective learning and ensure that all students reach their full potential. Teachers and students engaged with all the visitors and much praise was bestowed on staff and students alike from many visitors on the warm welcome and enjoyable experiences they had. The principal began the evening by outlining the extra curricular on offer in the school, alongside other extra supports in place to ensure the students are happy and emotionally well throughout their time in Borrisokane Community College. He also outlined upcoming events and courses on offer in the Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert.
The head boy, Darragh Buckley and head girl, Rebecca Mulqueen also reflected on their time in the school and spoke honestly of their positive experiences to date. They were then led around the school in groups by current students and prefects. The range of practical subjects available and the amazing facilities on site for students to use and enjoy where observed by all. Some of the latest rooms recently officially opened including a Friendship café and Library were also included in the tour. Once again it was a hugely successful event. An evening meal and refreshments were also provided in the canteen with compliments after the tours were completed. Enrolments for next year are currently being accepted.
