Borrisokane Community College vs Saint Mary’s High School
On the 9th of November our Junior Camogie Panel travelled to Templemore to play in the first round of the Junior Camogie Championship against Saint Mary’s High School, Midleton. There wasn’t much between the teams which were very evenly matched and displayed a great game of camogie. This was superb performance from all the players starting in the goals all the way to the full forward line. Unfortunately the result didn’t go our way and lost by a late goal by Saint Mary’s to secure their win. We look forward to our next game in a few weeks time which will be against the winners of St Mary’s Nenagh and Laurel Hill.
Final Score Borrisokane CC – 3-11 Saint Mary’s Midleton – 6-5
Senior Hurling
On Wednesday 10th of November, Borrisokane Senior Hurlers travelled to Killenaule Gaa pitch, where a 14-man BCC team fell short against a strong Killenaule side. The game opened in a free-flowing manner, where both teams got early scores on the board. Eoin Carroll proving a handful for Borrisokane. There was very little to separate the sides at half time where Killenaule led 11 points to 9, with Kevin Naughnane and Ciaran Foley performing heroically in the heart of the defence. Borriskane looked to bring themselves back into the game when a controversial decision caused Liam O Regan to be sent off. This proved to be a big turning point in the game. Our players kept battling hard, in particular Niall Quinn and Adrian Dockery who put in stellar performances in the engine room, scoring six points from play between them from midfield.
Gaeilge 24
Lá den scoth a bhí againn ar an Máirt mar ghlac lucht na hidirbhliana páirt i nGaeilge 24. Rinne siad go leor imeachtaí i rith an lae ina measc rang HIIT, dúshláin, poc fada, cluiche corr, treodóireacht agus cairióicé. Rinneadh sár-iarracht Gaeilge a labhairt i rith an lae. Gan dabht, bhain gach duine taitneamh agus tairbhe as!
U19 Soccer
The u19 boys’ soccer team travelled to Nenagh again on Tuesday, taking on Thomond Community College in a practice match. The boys went 1-0 up through a great goal by Jake Adler, before the Limerick outfit levelled the score from the penalty spot towards the end. Borris won the tie on penalties, scoring all six taken, while Cillian Bergin saved Thomond’s sixth penalty. The scorers in the shootout were Ross Austin, James Tanner, David Kirk, Barry Ryan and Andrew Hayes.
U17 Soccer
U17 boys soccer squad were good value for their 2 goal lead in the 1st round of the Munster Trophy. Their opponents, Colaiste Mhuire, Thurles pegged the Borris boys back with 2 late goals. Extra-time could not split the teams. A penalty shoot out loomed. The Borris squad, already missing 3 key players, lost both keepers. An outfield player was needed to face the penalties. Face them he did, he saved 2 and scored his own to the delight of the home crowd to send his side through. An immense performance by all 16 Borris players used. Special mention to Stuart who performed heroics in the penalty shoot out. Commiserations to Thurles. Thanks to Borrisokane FC for the use of their facilities.
