1st & 2nd Year Girls Basketball
Well done to our 2nd Year girls’ team who had a 50-12 victory over Ursuline Secondary School Thurles this week. A very impressive display with great intensity and teamwork throughout.
Our 1st Year team also had a victory over Ursuline Secondary School Thurles winning 26-6. A great start to their Midlands competition and well done on your first game representing the school.

Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition
Certified Irish Angus, ABP and Kepak, run the Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition which aims to encourage second-level students to gain an understanding about the care and attention that is required to produce and market the highest quality Irish Angus beef for consumers. The initiative challenges groups of students to compete to win the chance to rear 5 Certified Irish Angus calves for 18 months and carry out research on a chosen topic. This year a record number of over 170 school groups entered the competition and our school group was one of 42 groups to make it through to the finals event in Croke Park Conference Centre in March 2023. Our school group created a 3 minute entry video based on the chosen topic of sustainable beef production and farming techniques and they also completed an interview with a panel of industry experts. Judges for the finals event will be drawn from industry experts across the Agri Food industry such as ABP, Kepak, Irish retailers (supermarket chains who sell our Certified Irish Angus Beef), Teagasc, Bord Bia, Agriland and the Farmers Journal. Congratulations to our school group of Ronan Dockery, Liam O’Dwyer, James Morris and Cathal England and their teacher Ms. Jacqueline Hayes.
